how do I find subscriptions I forgot I signed up for

Freelancer desk with closed laptop, travel mug, and blank sticky notes in soft morning light for subscription audit

Start by searching your email inbox for words like "receipt," "invoice," "subscription," and "renewal" — filter by the past 12 months. Then go through three months of bank and credit card statements line by line, paying particular attention to charges between $5 and $50 where recurring fees tend to hide. Check PayPal and any digital wallets separately, since subscriptions billed through them don't always appear on card statements. Finally, review your Apple ID and Google Play accounts under subscriptions, because app-based recurring charges are easy to forget. Most freelancers find at least two or three forgotten charges this way.
